The Zara Rattan Bar Stool begins with solid teak that is kiln dried to strengthen the wood and remove excess moisture, protecting it from cracks and ensuring the frame will last for years. Over the course of two weeks, artisans carefully shape and smooth each piece by hand before assembling the frame with balance and precision.
Once the structure is complete, the seat and backrest are woven entirely by hand using a high-grade rattan blend. Each strand is pulled
to the right tension, creating a weave that offers natural flexibility, reliable comfort, and the strength to withstand daily use.
The finished frame is given a light hand-applied varnish that enhances the rich grain of the teak and protects the wood from daily wear. The rattan blend, chosen for its durability, is naturally resistant to sagging, mould, and discolouration. It also has a gentle flexibility that gives the seat its comfort while retaining its strength over time.
Produced in small batches of just 20, every stool carries subtle variations in the wood and weaving, giving each piece its own character and story. With a 65cm seat height, it is designed to fit standard UK kitchen islands and breakfast bars, combining timeless craftsmanship with everyday practicality.
